Kenwood Area Guide Eat, Drink, Coffee & Social
Beautiful Kenwood is located almost equidistant from the villages of Hampstead and Highgate, providing a plentiful supply of opportunities for eating, drinking and socialising. If you have a Kenwood property, these are some of the delights on your doorstep:-
Coffee – The Brew House
Located in the old stable block of Kenwood House and surrounded by Hampstead Heath, this is a real gem in Kenwood, open seven days a week throughout the year. It offers a wide choice of teas and coffees, hearty breakfasts, three or four lunch choices, and a tempting array of cakes and pastries, all in a beautiful setting. While you can sit inside, on a sunny day it’s a real pleasure to go outside and relax under umbrella-shaded tables in a lovely south-facing walled garden.
Eat – Artigiano
Situated in Belsize Terrace, NW3, Artigiano not only boasts delicious food but also a chic atmosphere with a modern glass atrium creating a light ambiance by day and a magical effect at night, enhanced by mood lighting. Photographs on the wall show that this restaurant is a popular favourite with celebrities and with a delicious menu, you can see why. With a variety of meat, pasta, risotto and fish dishes, followed by yummy desserts including warm chocolate soufflé with a delicious strawberry sorbet, there is something for everyone. On Fridays the atmosphere is energised with live jazz.
Drink – The Roebuck
Positioned between Hampstead and Belsize Park, this traditional pub has been welcoming people since the Victorian times. Stocked with a wide range of cask-conditioned ales, a wonderful wine list and a range of cocktails, it is an ideal place to relax for all occasions. If you would like a meal to accompany your tipple, then fresh seasonal British food is served, from pub classics including battered haddock and triple cooked chips and juicy prime British beef burger. For a lighter option there are dishes such as grilled aubergine, pomegranate and pistachio salad. The Roebuck has an all-season garden, which can be enjoyed even during the winter months with its sheltered position, heaters and blankets.
Social – Kenwood House
On the edge of Hampstead Heath is glorious Kenwood House itself, set in 74 acres of gardens and woodlands. Created by 18th century architect Robert Adam, the house has stunning architectural details and is home to a renowned collection of paintings. The house also hosts regular social events, with a plethora of activities ideal for families, including ‘Explorer Backpacks’, Mac’s Kenwood trails, storytelling Sundays and much more. For adults, there are open house events including diverse activities such as butter making lessons and dairy tours, and nature photography.
